I'm using Windows 8. In my "My Documents" folder (C:\Users\<MYNAME>\Documents), I have a folder (let's call it X) that contains yet more folders of images (let's call them X1,...,Xn). So the paths are C:\Users\<MYNAME>\Documents\X\X1,...,Xn. My "My Documents" folder uses the "Details" display. However, for folders X1,...,Xn (and ONLY those folders), I wish to use the display option "Large Icons".

However, changing the display for any of the Xi folders causes the display to change for ALL folders in "My Documents" (all folders in path C:\Users\<MYNAME>\Documents). I have tried several different tactics but have not been able to change the display for ONLY folders X1 to Xn.

I asked on another forum and someone said it might have to do with the concept of "libraries". I researched the subject but am not anywhere closer to finding a solution.

The folder X is program folder, and the Xi are folders that the program creates to stock the images. I could just manually move all images to the My Images folder (C:\Users\<MYNAME>\Pictures) since that folder has Large Icons display, but I would rather keep the Xi image folders together with its program folder X in My Documents. Anyone know how I can do this? It's driving me insane. I keep having to switch displays just to see icons of the pictures in the Xi.
