Greetings all, I need a little help

Last Month (too busy with work) we had a thunderstorm and lost power. System has a surge protector. I am certain there wasn't a power spike because the other 4 computers are working.

Computer is HP Pavilion Elite m9340f running W7 64.

Startup repair could not repair, here is the info:

Problem Event Name: Startup Repair Offline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21199703
Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 06: 9
Problem Signature 07: No Root Cause

OS Ver. 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Local ID 1033

Next, I ran chkdsk /r It found no problems.

Next, a System Restore, completed successfully.

Restarted, it acts normal for a couple of seconds then BSOD:

It says remove any new hard drive or controller, run chkdsk (I have already run chkdsk and there are no errors). Or it says it could be a virus.

No new hard disk and I know there is no virus as the computer has all the necessary anti-virus software.

Here is the info:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A9928,0xFFFFFFFFC0000034,0X0000000000000000,0X0000000000000000)

Next, I ran bootrec.exe /fixmbr, bootrec.exe /fixboot, bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd and bootrec.exe /scanos from the command prompt. The last coming back with Total identified Windows installations: 0. Not sure if I actually ran it on the C: drive as the prompt was x:\windows\system32> .

Next, I read on another thread about using Farbar Recovery Scan Tool, ran that, the log is attached.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance:

Kevin

Start with these free diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Do the hard drive first, as that's what the STOP 0x7B error points to (that's shorthand for STOP: 0x0000007B) - INaccessible Boot Device

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

Thanks for your assistance USASMA....

Sorry for the delay, way too much work.....

Because the system goes to the BSOD and never gets to the desktop I am unable to perform the listed steps on:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

What I have done to ensure there is not a problem with the hard drive is to run the Western Digital HD test (using Hiren's Boot CD v. 15.2), it completed without any errors (I ran the complete test).  Next, to also ensure that there were no memory issues I also ran Memtest 86+ v.4.2 (also Hiren's) and received a "Pass Complete".

My thoughts are there are corrupted Windows System Files, I booted the computer using the Windows DVD and was able to get to the command prompt.  Once there I changed to C:\ and attempted to run sfc /scannow.  I received "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart windows and run sfc again".  The problem is I can only get to the command prompt using the windows DVD.

Your thoughts?

Thanks again

Kevin

Try these commands at the Command Prompt (press Enter after each one):

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Press Enter after each command.

The last one will ask you to answer some questions - accept the default (Yes, you want it to scan).

Thanks once more usasma....

Followed https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/927392

I changed the directory to C:\ and ran all.  All said it was completed, rebooted still BSOD.  So I ran again on the X:\ and it returned "Total identified windows installations: 0" for /scanos & /rebuildbcd.

So once more I went to C:\, then to c:\windows and did "dir", came back with a bunch of directories so I am sure windows is there.

Any other thoughts on how to get sfc /scannow to run?

Thanks again

Kevin

Something is missing.  I don't know what it is as I gave up working on boot issues a long time ago (back in the XP days).

Two options:

- post over in the Win7 forums for assistance in rebuilding the boot stuff

- backup, wipe, and then reinstall Windows 7:  http://www.carrona.org/canned.html#clean
