I have set up a windows server 2012 R2 with users that only access remotely. I want to set up an anonymous VPN such as cyberghost, PIA, etc. However due to the nature of tunneling VPNs defaulting to forcing all traffic through the VPN, it blocks remote desktop from working while the VPN is active.

Is there a workaround to remotely connect to the server while still providing the VPN service (anonymous web browsing, p2p, etc)?

If you want users to be able to have local Internet connectivity (e.g. get to google through their local gateway) and have the ability for them to access remote systems through the VPN you will need to configure VPN split tunnelling.
