I am trying to import a website (template) into expressions web 4, swap out the images with my own, and then swap out the text with my own. I thought all I would have to do / the easiest way to do it  was resize my images, rename them to whatever the original images were named , and replace the text and upload it.

This is the website I imported

http://www.timothyprojects.net/auburn/index.html

I made js, images and css folders, replaced the banner image 1 in the images folder with one of my images resized to the original image size, and  it doesnt work.

Is there anything else I need to add to make this problem clear? Am I wrong about the process on importing and replacing images?

I've tried to find a youtube instruction video that I could follow but the only ones I've found stop short of replacing the original text and pictures with my own.

So if anyone has  a link to a tutorial for the above problem I would appreciate that too of course

THanks. I needed to refresh my page and it worked.

The only thing on that page that is mine is the title and the first banner image. I resized my banner image to match the one in the template and it cropped it instead. I am using GIMP. Canyou tell what I did wrong with that image to get that crop?

or what I should have done? Is there anything easier or more intuitive than Gimp I should be using?

All 4 of the banner images are the same size

1000 x 400

That is a nice looking page

It does not respond to my tablet or smart phone.

On the cropping you may have had aspect ratio on and it changed it accordingly.

One way to get an image to fit into a specified area is to

Open the image that is the correct size

Open a new blank image of that same size

Open the image that you want to use and paste it into the blank correct sized image.

Or fit it within those boundries

I don't know about Gimp but I have heard it is great by numerous people

I tried to attach the picture here to show you I got it to 1000x400. and I had the aspect ratio off. Is there a way to attach the picture here without using an url;?

and thanks for your help it looks like you're the only one patrolling the web site development forum

The only way I know of is to use a url

photobucket is free..

 upload it to a host and send the url

There are more patrolling the forum they just havent jumped in.

The photo you have in the banner is 1698 x 955

1k%20by%204oo.gif

See below how a 1000 x 400 stacks up against that.

The pink dotted line represents the 1000 x 400 area

Something is wrong with my uploading. The one above you posted is not the one on my local drive. ON my local drive I opened it and checked and it was 1000x400. And it looks stretched, you can tell it isnt the same as the one online that you posted. I cant figure out why it wont update. also I changed alot of the text and uploaded it and filezilla said it uploaded it but it doesnt change online evenwhen I refresh the browser. No new pics, no new text

Try a new private window

Try ctrl F5

Verify that the files are being uploaded to the correct location

if you are doing modifications on a local machine sometimes the file path gets off

img[Attributes Style] {
  1. width1362px;
  2. height766px;
}

Thats what I get when inspecting the element.

CSS can be a little funny from time to time.

I just noticed that template and many others are available as a group for 29$

Maybe there's something in that coding preventing me from changing sizes, text etc.

Do you think?

Also thanks for the compliment on the site

Or compliment on my taste in websites more accurately. I thought it was the most visually appealing and direct, too

I like the clean column layout.
I don't know the value of those sites.
Have you considered any other CMS than expressions

Are you hosting your site somewhere or just on your local machine?

Either way
