So, I woke up to some garbage today.

I turned on my computer, and started clicking around, trying to open stuff, and I found an error when opening up chrome!

An error message popped up, showing the file tree to the executable, with 'server execution failed' at the bottom.

I figured, huh, that's pretty weird, so I opened up firefox instead. I clicked the shortcut on the taskbar, and it showed that a window was open on the task bar (You know that square thing that goes around the icon? It was showing that.). No error message, no nothing, and soon the 'window' apparently closed.

SLSK did the same thing, as did Doom Builder, as did FL Studio, MusicBee... Pretty much everything but the folder system and the recycle bin. I managed to get on here and type this with the power of running administrator on chrome, though, so I have that. Chrome is even functioning normally, nothing weird going on here.

Anyways, anyways...

So, I figure, is there an update I missed? I decided to go to the home screen, went down the shutdown options, and clicked 'update and restart'.

Waited, nothing happened for about ten minutes. Did it again, nothing. Shut down? Nothing.

Ran Malwarebytes free version, nothing. It's not letting me open defender either.

I haven't installed anything weird recently, my (x86) package seems to be up to date...  Of course, lord knows that, considering that the store isn't working either!

I just want to have a functioning laptop, I have applications to write! :x

Thank you for your help!

I appreciate the difficulties you are having but I would like you to try and download two programs both of which are available as free downloads on BC. If you can't download them to your own computer you could use another and save them to a memory stick  As far as i know they will both run from a memory stick. They are Speccy and Mini Toolbox :-

Speccy        :-  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/speccy/

Mini toolbox :-  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

When you have run Speccy all you need to do is copy and paste the URL into your next post. Please just post the URL. These two images show you how to get it :-

https://www.dropbox.com/s/oo1fw10rvh6wv90/Speccy%202.jpg?dl=0

Mini toolbox just runs, it doesn't install, and you will get an options box when it starts. Tick the buttons as shown in this image :-

Then click 'Go'. It will produce a report in .TXT format. Open this file and copy/paste the contents into your next post.

If you can get this information it will go a long way to deciding what your problem is. If these programs also don't run, post back and say so.
