I was trying to access Bleeping Computer website and the headings showed briefly and the there is this banner of red that says 100% of airlines in the future 500 Rely on Red Hat. I'm thinking that this must be a virus.

I have not seen a banner like that but I am a windows 8.1 person all though I did use vista for about 6 years. It might be a virus or it could be just advertisement.

Advertisements give you an option to "X" out, this doesn't and if you go further in it, there is a registration form. You don't know what to expect.

What browser are you using. Get firefox and use the Adblock plus extension or Chrome and Adguard. Would also help if you also used Ghostery and enabled everything in options. If you get to site that does not behave you can always temporarily disable Ghostery. Ghostery is available for both Firefox and Chrome.

Edit: uBlock Origin is an extension that blocks scripts and ads. It is available for both Firefox and Chrome and uses less memory.

I have read that another user has this same problem.
