I was personalizing my computer, and under change the computers apperance and themes, a dropdpwn menu says:
Toshiba
My Current Theme
Windows XP
Windows Classic
Browse

When i clicked browse it looks for only ".Theme" files. Is it possible for me to create a ".Theme" file?

Open Display.
Change your Appearance around to new colors & fonts or whatever.
Get your theme set the way you want it to look.
In Display choose My Current Theme.
Click the Save button.
Rename it.
Pick a permanent location to save it to.
You have just created a THEME.

Are there any sites that have already made-up themes like I could get for Win98SE? Loved putting different ones on there for different sports teams, etc. Especially the ones that changed icons as well.

Ok, i dont really know anything about downloading new themes for XP, but ive heard XP is less stable when it comes to installing new themes so just use with caution.
Of course, sometimes people can be over cautious and this may be one of those occassions where its actually fine, but its your choice, just look into it first.

If im honest, ive been wanting a little different look to my XP for a while, so if this does work ok for you, then do please let me know. I would be interested to know if you can revert back to one of the original XP themes after installation or not,or if any change in system performance is noticable!

i used medab1s link and downloaded the Top Themes XP program, is free for 15 days, or 15 skins, and it works awesomely, if can even use the uber cool apple logo for start button and edit startup images and logon screen, as well as the taskbar.

They also use a tremendous amount of system resources, put a load on your graphics adapter, etc.

If speed is essential I wouldn't bother with themes.

DOnt bother with the top themes XP things, it cool and all but its not worth it unless you buy it, after spendinga whole day creating all the images i wanted i see this little bit of text in the corner saying after gyour free trial has expired all themes will be deleted, so unless you wana pay $ for it, still with the windows themes,.
