I am helping a friend that has a HP 32 bit Windows 7 system that had Kaspersky Pure 3.0 installed.  I believe she installed the program from a disc but never activated the virus program.

I want to remove the program but can not find a way to do so.  It is calling for a password she was supposed to have made when she first installed the program.  She doesn't remember ever setting up a password.  I've gone through Google looking for help but so far haven't found anything that works.

Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Can you try removing it using the Kaspersky Labs Product Remover?

Hi, JazzMahn:

KL software can be a bit finicky re: installation and removal.

I think QM7's approach is probably the best way to start.

The "Kavremover" tool is really designed to be run only AFTER a standard uninstall from the control panel, and only if needed.

In addition to the helpful links @QM7 provided, here are specific instructions about PURE 3.0 removal:

How to uninstall Kaspersky PURE 3.0

In other words, the first step would be to try to recover the password, as explained in the link @QM7 provided here:

If you forgot password to Kaspersky PURE 3.0

Next would be the uninstall.

Next would be the use of Kavremover, if needed. (I didn't unzip the version available here at bleeping, so I'm not 100% sure it's the current version. KL does update the tool from time to time. So you might prefer to download it (as an exe or a zip) from the KL site.)

If all of that fails, then some fancy footwork might be needed. The best bet at that point might be to log a Tech Support ticket at my.kaspersky.com
