The only clue that I have a problem is when the messages that norton is scanning out-going email hundreds of them if I let it go long enough, then error messages start popping up as well

Here are some examples of the text
Example 1
Your email message to rmottare@muttart.com
with the subject of
Watch
was unable to be sent becasue the connection to your mail server was interrupted please open your email clinet and re-send the message from the sent messages folder.
example 2
Your email message was unable to be sent because your mail server rejected the message
554 Your email is considered spam (8.60 spam-hits)

I tried to fix it on my own but wasn't able to. Norton doesn't identify anything wrong neither did Eiwdo. I'm reluctant to leave it conected to the internet not knowing what else it may be doing. Adaware and spybot are now clean. Also incd doesn't start any more it comes up with an error accessing the file system

Thanks for your help

Please run a GMER Rootkit scan:

Download GMER's application from here:
http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip

Unzip it and start the GMER.exe
Click the Rootkit tab and click the Scan button.

Once done, click the Copy button.
This will copy the results to your clipboard.
Paste the results in your next reply.

Warning ! Please, do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan.

If you're having problems with running GMER.exe, try it in safe mode.
This tools works in safe mode. Other rootkitrevealers don't.

*You may need to use separate posts to ensure that the logs don't get cut off!

Please run the gmer scan again.

If you see this line in the window:

Service F:\WINDOWS\system32:pe386.sys (*** hidden *** ) [SYSTEM] pe386 <-- ROOTKIT !!!

<<Right click>> it and select delete.

If you did not see the line in the gmer scan,

Go to start > run and copy and paste next command:

sc delete pe386

Now we need to do a search. Start | Search | For Files and Folders.
Expand Search Options, check Advanced Options, check Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search Subfolders.
Paste this into the Search for files and folders named box:

pe386.sys

If any of these files are found please delete them.

Now, please post a new hijackthis log.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below (if present).

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=F:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\USERINIT.EXE,F:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\USERINIT.EXE,
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

If you, the administrator or your anti spyware programs (such as Spybot - Search and Destroy) did not enable these restrictions, also check to remove:

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. close HijackThis.

reboot and post a new hijackthis log.

Please also let me know how your computer is running at the moment and if problems persist

fix this line in hijackthis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

reboot, and post a new hijackthis log.

How is your PC behaving?
