Windows activation is alive and well in Windows 10. Microsoft doesn't like to talk about the inner workings of its anti-piracy software, but it's clear from testing that Windows 10 included a major change in the way activation works

Saw that. I just created a Windows 7 RTM x64 VM tonight and the Do it later option when you enter the product key isn't there anymore. However, if you click on "Next" without entering it, it still skips it.

That is interesting. At least now we know that it is safe to do a clean install if we need to.
