Hi.

I was playing World of Warcraft and I blue screened after a loading screen. I tried again and this time blue screened as soon as I loaded into the game. It happened a third time this time without the game open and I was just browsing for solutions.

Some basic info about my PC:

Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

RAM: 4 GB

Processor: A4-5300 APU

Video Card: Radeon HD 5450

Motherboard: a55md2 biostar

I installed the new driver for my video card 2 days ago so im not sure if thats the problem. As soon as I got the blue screen I tried to system restore and I got a 0x000022 error after it rebooted.

I did an sfc /scannow and it says:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Well after pulling my hair out for 3 days and downloading a number of programs to wipe out viruses and trojans, I narrowed down this problem to this: AVG Antivirus ...the latest 2016 free version with a firewall.  Now you might not have this issue but here is the basics of my machine:

Windows XP Pro Service pack 3 (or more)

AMD 9950 Quad Core

ASUS M3N78Pro

4GB RAM

RAID 5 array

I would download AVG Free version 2016 (free.avg.com/us-en/homepage) and get this package.  It would download and install fine but upon reboot the dreaded BSOD.

Solution:

Uninstall AVG in safemode (need to uninstall "AVG Protection" first, then "AVG Zen".)    Once you do that, then you are back in business.

Now using another free antivirus that won't bsod my xp machine.  Just wanted to save you the headache I suffered!!
