I've spent 3 days trying to rid my brand new shiny Windows 10 operating system of a Adware/Malware issue. I'm hoping this forum can help. I use to fix computers on the side and still can't seem to figure this one out. Very aggravating.

Things I can't fix:

1. When opening Chrome, I'm taken to http://search.sidecubes.com/?st=dn&q=

2. Same thing for IE although I don't use IE

3. My Chrome Search engine keeps changing WebSearch (feed.sonic-search.com)

4. In Computer Management > Task Scheduler, tasks labeled snf and snp keep showing up

5. Local Disk (C:) > ProgramData has 2 folders: ExtTag and ExtTags I can't remove permanently. Full of lots of bad stuff including .dll files.

What I've tried:

1. I've tried manually removing/deleting/changing the above items.

2. I've ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

3. I've ran CCleaner

4. I've ran AdwCleaner

5. I've ran Panda Free Antivirus

6. I've ran WindowsexeAllkiller (latch ditch effort)

For all of the above, I've ran in Safe Mode when possible and I've ran Full Scans when possible. Many find things related to the 5 I listed above and claim to fix them but after I restart everything is back to way it was.

What else can I try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone at least let me know if I'm posting in the wrong place? Or what additional details I need to provide? Really hoping to avoid a clean install right off the bat but getting close to thinking that is my only option.

Thanks Broni for the response! I had actually already tried both those options for Chrome (Reset to Default Settings and Full Uninstall including Profile, etc) but just to be safe I tried them both again. Same issue as soon as I restart my computer. It seems like something is triggering the changes I outlined as soon as my computer restarts or as soon as my browser opens but I can't figure out what. I tried deleting the tasks in Task Scheduler which are part of the problem but they show up on a restart as well.

p22002970.gif Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

Should I be somehow turning Windows Defender back on? It was turned off by Rkill and now I'm not sure how to turn it back on. The normal way won't work.

Judging from your initial scan with FSS, Windows Defender was already disabled.

Click on "Search" button and enter:

services

Click on Services (Desktop application).

Services window will open.

Scroll down to Windows Defender Service.

Right click on it, click "Properties" and under "Startup type" select "Automatic" from drop down menu.

Restart computer.

Post fresh FSS log.

I don't see the option you described in Windows 10. But if I just right click and select Start, I get the following message:

Windows could not start the Windows Defender Service service on Local Computer.

Error 577: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.
