This is my first post here, so apologies if its done wrong!

I noticed yesterday that in the top left hand corner of my screen that there was a blue shape that looked like this:

Posted Image

So, i moved it to the middle of the screen and it was shown to bee a bigger box:

I tried rezizing it, and right clicking it, so i tried all my ad Ad-aware and spybot S&D and a virus search but nothing showed up.

If anyone can help me explain what this is and get rid of it i'd be very grateful

Thanks,
Rhys

By chance are you using PocketPC to integrate with your desktop system?

Once DotPocket is doing it's thing, the first thing you'll notice is a blue square on your screen that wasn't there before. This little square is your interface to DotPocket, and allows you to switch (on the fly this time) between it's two display modes.

I figured out what it is, at least on my computer. I have the exact same blue spot, but I can not move it. I have a Hewlett Packard computer. I went into task manager and stopped services on at a time until the dot disappeared. Mine is caused by HP update manager. As soon as I stop that service from running the spot disappears. HP updates aren't good for much except advertising, so it can be easily deleted, but as long as the dot is safe (not spyware) I guess I'll just leave it there. Hope this helps.

The original poster said it was a small blue box (square) on his desktop, not a dot (circle). Are you sure you had the same thing showing? You could be talking about something similar but not the same cause.

I too have been having this same small blue square on my desktop for the last couple of weeks and yes if I ended the process iexplore.exe it would dissappear, only to return later. I seem to remember that it appeared shortly after trying a registry scanner (subsequently removed from pc).

I have now totally removed regscan as suggested by righteous1 and so far it has not reappeared, so thanks righteous1.

Just a thought though... I use Avast antivirus and it did not detect any viruses even when I did a boot scan.
