computer stops and says "problem .... shutdown to prevent damage to comp."     Comp quit accessing internet after fake Comcast Helpline hacks called to sell me anti-virus and I said no. It was running ok except no internet, then I run some cleanups like JRT, rkill, ADW, without rebooting in between. Now I can't even get it to startup.  CHKDSK finds no problems.

Chkdsk is not the answer for possible malware issues...or various other system issues.

Topic moved to Am I Infected forum for a look.

How do you get started fixing the problem if you can't even get started with the XP installation disk? Reinstall will cause a format and I'll lose a lot.
