So I've got a home-built system, recently did a fresh install of Windows 10. A few times now, I have left the system alone for a while, only to come back to a bluescreen with hex code 0x00000119. I checked the minidump file, and it seems to be identifying mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll as the culprit. I checked the event viewer logs, and it seems that at the same time, there were errors resuming from hibernate or sleep. I have since disabled hibernate, since I'm on a desktop and using an SSD anyway.

Any thoughts? There were no issues of any kind while running Windows 8.1 for the past 2 years on the same hardware. RAM tested okay, and there are no hard drive errors. I can also confirm that all drivers are up to date from the manufacturers.

System details:
Current OS - Windows 10 x64 - Full retail version
Original OS - Windows 8.1 x64 - Full retail version
OS age - 1 week

Motherboard - ASRock Z87M Pro4
Processor - Intel i5-4570
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost
Hardware age - 2 years

Thanks!

Uninstall McAfee and use another antivirus.  If you're determined to use McAfee, then download a fresh copy from the McAfee site and install it AFTER uninstalling the current copy from your system.

You have 3 hard drives.  What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

You have 2 unknown USB devices.  Do you have any idea what they are?

Unknown USB Device (Link in Compliance Mode)    USB\VID_0000&PID_0008\5&887ACB0&0&16    This device is working properly.
Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)    USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\5&887ACB0&0&1    This device is working properly.

The description says that they're working properly, but their descriptions are missing.

The BSOD errors point to video problems.

First try:

- uninstall the current video drivers

- visit http://www.geforce.com/drivers and get the latest, Win10 compatible drivers for your system.

- install those drivers

- monitor for further BSOD's

Should the BSOD's continue, then try the video tests from this link:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

I don't actually have McAfee, and I have no desire to.  I run AVG for my antivirus at the moment, but I'll give it a good uninstall and reinstall just in case.

The unknown USB device comes from an issue with one of my external hard drives.  It's a known issue, and it was not plugged in when the BSOD occurred, but I did accidentally leave it when running the report.  It shouldn't be a factor here.

I'll try looking into the gfx drivers, thank you.

My mistake, I assumed a driver that started with mc in one of the reports was from McAfee

Then, when I figured out that I'd messed up, I couldn't find this topic!

Sorry!

If the graphics drivers don't fix the problems, try these free diagnostics (particularly the video tests):  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html
