I have bin trying to back up my ps3 to a External HDD and have bin haveing problems.

The HDD will not show up on the consol, It also tells me to plug in a device.

The HDD is a 465 GB, and is NTFS.

It also has some files from an older pc on it.

Do i need to make a partition on the Hdd or can it just not be used.

Don't quote me on this...but I don't think you can. Are you referring to the process of backing up your PS3's main hard disk (where the OS is stored) to another drive? I think they removed that feature a year or two ago.

Try and reformat the drive to FAT32 and see if it recognizes it.
