Well, I bought a Dell laptop couple years ago and after the McAfee products expired I wanted them gone from my laptop. But NOTHING I do is the right thing to remove the McAfee Anti Theft, I mean, I have contacted McAfee and no one knows how to remove this thing from my desktop. Is this a very stubborn virus or something else? I'm not sure if I posted on the right place, I'm sorry if I didn't. Can anyone help me to get rid of this Anti Theft?

Hello app222 and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

This topic is in the wrong forum as this is the Malware Removal forum and we're not experts in this kind of problem.

That said, I have found from doing a quick search that the MCPR tool is not meant for use with McAfee Anti-Theft so it will not uninstall it.

Apparently, McAfee Anti-Theft is supplied by Intel.and you'll have to go to go to the Control Panel and uninstall Intel AT Service. As part of the process you'll have to supply your McAfee e-mail address and password. If you don't have one I'm afraid you'll have to subscribe in order to uninstall it.

Please let me know if that worked.

Sorry about that, it has been a crazy few days at work.

There's nothing listed as Intel AT Service, I have done my own reserch and none of the options online has helped me. It is  not a simple solution like click on whatever file and uninstall it. I have even contacted them for help and nothing.

OK let’s see what we can find with a scan.

Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:

  • please follow all instructions in the order posted
  • all logs/reports, etc. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In Notepad click Format, uncheck Word wrap if it is checked
  • if you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification before proceeding
  • the fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!

IMPORTANT:

Please DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
Please DO NOT run any scans other than those requested

===================================================

Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • press Scan button
  • it will produce a log called Frst.txt in the same directory the tool is run from
  • please copy and paste log back here.
  • the first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the Frst.txt into your reply.

Logs to include with next post:

Frst.txt
Addition.txt

Have to go out now so won't be replying for a while.

Thanks

Satchfan

Thank you so much for the help. I have solved my problem, I contacted Mcafee for the 8236546723 time and someone finally was able to helpe me. It was complicated and they installed something on my laptop so they could see my desktop and do the job themselves, I would never be able to do what they did.
