I recently downloaded expression and bought a dummies book for it. Both the dummies book and the Expression help contents state to create a site by going to file-new-site

But "site" isnt listed there. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I tried to take a screen shot of the file options but couldnt

Here are the file>new> options.

page
html
aspx
asp
php
css
javascript

after those is a shaded out folder icon and "folder"

But it doesnt say "site" anywhere

Please help me get started with my site. I dont want to start on the pages until I create the site as instructed in the dummies book and the contents of the Expression help files

denvernative,

Sounds like you need to put your files in place to view the pages.

What version of Expression are you working with?

4.0.1460.0.

I dont have any files yet. but the directions on the dummies book and in the expression user guide in the help menu have you to create a new site first. file.new.website

Creating new sites

When you open a site in Microsoft Expression Web, the Site View tab is automatically added to your editing window. You can look at the content in your site in four different Site View displays to help you design, publish, and manage it. For more information, see Site View.

To create a site

  1. On the Site menu, click New Site.

  2. In the New dialog box, select the type of site that you want to create, specify the location of the site, and then click OK.

The dummies book does the same thing. Before it tells you how to create pages, it says to create a site using the same directions as above

thanks for your reply too. I'm anxious to get this site up

I'm not sure what web design is. I have the basic page layout conception. A homepage for my farm with links each represented by a graphic to Dogs, Sheep, Goats and Birds and food or preserves. and an about link that will go to a page about the farm in general

Those animals are what I sell. I'm not sure how I will have have the layout for the homepage itself I am sure it will change as I learn
I could combine the sheeps and goats to "caprinae" to save space for example

Design is the things you have mentioned

Dogs
Sheep
Goats
Birds
food or preserves.
and an about link
Take everything you want to express and put them on a web page

If you are famaliar with Microsoft products and FTP it should be possible to have your design up and running soon.
You can design your page in Expression and upload it to the web.
