I have bin trying to back up my ps3 to a External HDD and have bin haveing problems.

The HDD is a 465 GB, and is NTFS.

It also has some files from an older pc on it.

Do i need to make a partition on the Hdd or can it just not be used.

I believe you can not backup to an external hard drive anymore on a PS3. They changed it with an update years ago.

You can back it up actually. You could take the drive out and clone or image it with the right software. I have no idea of software like Macrium or Clonezilla (my preferred) can copy a PS3 drive. I don't see why not. If you go that route, ask the appropriate forum people (ask the Clonezilla forum if you use Clonezilla) for guidance on imaging a PS3.
