I plug a usb flash drive in my Windows 7 desktop and every so often when I try to eject it, "This device is currently in use...." I backed out of all files and folders and lookin' straight at the drive name in My Computer. The thing keeps constantly blinkin for a few minutes to several hours. What's it doing?

It could be still writing files to itself, or there must be something wrong with it.

I see that same thing many times, try clicking on another drive before ejecting.  Also thoroughly scan it for malware, it is possible it has a bug.
