Hi guys,

I'm 53 years old, from the Netherlands and I've got a lot of BSOD screens with my computer. This computer I've bought a couple of months ago (second handed).

I've tried almost everything, but nothing seems to work. When I get a BSOD the computer restarts and starts Windows again.

The errors are random and most of the time referring to ntoskrnl.exe and ndis, sys.

Hopefully you can help me out.

Regards,

Aad

I've attached the zip-files.

If you haven't heard anything in 2 days, please feel free to message one of the helpers (such as myself).

They're aren't very many of us, and we're very busy - so we don't always get to each and every problem right away.

One of the helpers is traveling today and may not have Internet access for a few days (returning to college) - making us even more busy.

You only have 563 mB of free RAM, this can slow the system down significantly.  I strongly suggest getting more RAM (if the system is capable of handling it).  While waiting (or if not capable), please only run one program at a time in order to conserve mememory.

Only 251 Windows Updates installed.  Most systems have 300 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Please provide this report:

License Information (Windows 7 and earlier)

Please provide the MGADiag report according to these instructions (from this post: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165472-product-key-number-uninstall-deactivate-windows-3.html#post1767989 ):

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

Out of 50 memory dumps there were 11 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html ).

Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Be sure to run the video tests as there were a number of video related memory dumps.

Already did the memtest which gave no errors and the drivetests which gave on both internal discs, disposition code 0x00.

You told me there was only 500mb RAM available, but there must be 4gb installed. I can't find out where the rest of the RAM is used for.

I'm not running that many programs at the same time.

RAM is occupied by different programs.  You can see them if you open task manager and click on the Processes tab.

What about the other hardware tests?  Prime95, Furmark, OCCT, and the CPU stress tests?

What about the rest of the Windows Updates?

Hello,

I don't see any rare things in my processes (the only thing I can find strange, is the number of 91 ?? processes). I can see that svchost is running several times.

Prime95 is running.. Furmark gave a heat of 97C. Which CPU Stress test do you recommend? I've updated Windows with the latest updates (around 30 that i've missed)..

I'm not sure if I get the Furmark thing right and I installed HWMonitor. Both of the outcome I enclosed as .txt files.

And what is OCCT?

Regards

Aad

A heat of 97ºC in Furmark is awfully high.  Please check and see if the video card is seated properly, Please check that it's cooler is firmly attached, and that the cooler is clean and free of dirt/dust.  Also make sure that the fan for the cooler is running.

I suggest any of the AMD tests - just skip the first one (it's for Intel CPU's)

You can also run the Small FFT and Large FFT tests in Prime95 to test the CPU (this isn't a substitute for the CPU stress tests - just an additional test for the CPU cache and memory controller).

As for OCCT - it's one of the 5 tests here:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html#morevideo (it's the one listed as #3).

The biggest thing about the video tests is to monitor your temps - if it hits 100ºC then shut the system off (force a shutdown immediately).

If the video card starts to display bizzare/damaged screens, shut the system off.

Hi,

just did the cleaning and everything seems fine. How long should I run the OCCT test?  The temp of the CPU's are around 70C and the video around 75C .

Now I have two other videocards:

Geforce 6700XL

N610GT

they both have active fans, is it better to use one of those? And which is the best one to use?

I suggest running the tests until the temps stabilize at some level.

If the temps stay the same and you don't have problems - then it's a safe bet that the video card isn't malfunctioning (with regards to that particular test).

Trying either card would be a good test.
If the problems stop - then it's the AMD card's fault.

If they don't, then something else is to blame (or both cards are bad).
