I had a legit copy of 8.1, I've mistakenly thought this would be the key for Win 10.

I've no win 10 key.

What can I do?  I can't activate Win 10 now.

Any help guys?

Hi Red Kelt :)

Did you upgrade Windows 8.1 to Windows 10? If so, the product key for Windows 8.1 will be used for the activation of Windows 10, yes.

Use your 8.1 key.  That's the key you need.  The Win10 key will be added and generated during installation.  Go do it...

I've tried the win 8.1 key, it says it's false.

I did the fresh install option.

You installed Windows 10 straight from the .iso?

Also, where did you get that Windows 8.1 Product Key from?

The product key I used was from my Win 8.1, the key that is on the sticker that is on the pc case.

I installed from the little program that you dload, it created a usb boot device, I had the option to upgrade or fresh install.

The product key that is embedded in the BIOS, and the one on the sticker aren't the same. You can try to use ProduKey to grab your Windows 8.1 embedded product key and use it to activate Windows 10. However, I don't know if ProduKey will work on Windows 10.

How many Windows 8.1 product keys are listed in ProduKey?

None, it lists a win 10 product key which doesn't work.

What error code are you getting when you're entering the product key?
