Okay, I got myself into this and now I need help getting out of it. At one point, Avast! stopped some processes in memory, and warned me about something about dangerous to use the computer with something in the memory, and prompted a reboot so it could scan before it got loaded into memory. Avast! deleted some trojans... Anyway, I did a HijackThis! scan, logfile as below:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Hi Arktos

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Please post:
  • c:\rapport.txt
  • Ewido log
  • Uninstall list
  • A new HijackThis log
Your may need several replies to post the requested logs, otherwise they might get cut off.

By the way, is your Norton up-to-date? I mean you have 2 firewalls (Norton and ZoneAlarm) and 3
antiviruses (Norton, AVG and avast!). You should use only 1 firewall and 1 antivirus.

Thanks for the reply, I will print these instructions tomorrow when I get acces to a printer.

To answer your question, Norton for some reason doesn't work on my own Windows XP account (something about installing a new OS), so I installed AVG at first. The trial ran out, and I can't seem to uninstall it for some odd reason. Same thing for the firewall issue.

Once again, thank you for your time!

You mean that you can uninstall neither Norton nor AVG?

I can't uninstall AVG, but my computer has 2 user accounts, and it works on the other one just fine. AVG isn't in the Add/Remove programs list, and clicking on "uninstall" will give me an error message "Windows is looking for xxx (the uninstaller).", so I'm lost at what to do.

Sounds like your user account may be corrupted or something. Have you tried to create new account and see if things work ok on that account?
