A lot of the time I find that programs I install/download do not work due to a missing DLL.
I look for a solution, and find that one of these "Redistributable" contain the solution to my error.
In this specific case, I'm getting this error while trying to run Apache on my machine:
ApacheMonitor.exe - System Error
The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
After doing research, I found that this
installation will apparently fix my problem. However, upon trying to install, I get one of two errors:
1 - Program hangs near end of installation reading "Processing: Windows7_MSU_x64" and does nothing.
2 - Installation crashes with this error:
"One or more issues caused this step to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup.
For more information see the log file.
0x80070652 - Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install."
The "Redistributable" alternates between the above errors one each try.
It's one of those Windows Conundrums that seem to have no explanation and no solution. A lot of the time these "Visual" things mention C#/C++, yet both already run perfectly fine on my machine through compilers.
Not only is Apache already difficult to set up on Windows (They don't even provide a Windows binary!), but now it involves this "Microsoft Visual" stuff that has never worked for me either.
1. What are "Microsoft Visual Redistributables"?
2. Why won't it install?
Edit: Of course, no replies. I feel like I've been cursed with the existence of Microsoft Visual.
