I have an H.P Envy h8-1417c, computer running Windows 8.1.

Processor is, Intel® Core™ i7-3770 CPU@3.40ghZ, 3401 MHz, 4 Core(s). Logical Pro. 12.0 memory.

Below are the problems I'm having. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

When computer is restarted, files get shuffled around on desktop.

Files on my desktop disappear by themselves.

Computer is very slow online and off line.

When I click on properties on any folder, everything on the computer screen disappears, and the screen turns blue for about 5 seconds then comes back to the desktop.

When I transfer a file from one file to another. For example, I copy a file from a file name Day, and paste it on the desktop. After the transfer indicator shows the file has been pasted to the desktop, the file does not show up on the desktop. In order for the file to show up on the desktop I have to restart the computer.

Sometimes when I try to open a file it will not open no matter how many times I click on it. The only way it will open, is restarting the computer. I’m having to restart the computer a lot lately.

When I used to open Google Chrome, it used to put a Google icon at the bottom of my screen. Today I noticed that when I open Chrome, the icon that is put at the bottom of my screen, looks like a blank document with the upper right hand corner folded forward.

I have used every kind of spyware/malware/virus remover that I can find online, but nothing helps.

Have you recently installed any new programs, or made any other changes?

Try doing a System Restore.

Choose a restore point prior to this problem.

Thank you for your assistance. I'm familiar with system restore, and have tried it. But when I go to it, it only give gives me the present date. When I click on find other dates, it will only find today's date.

I think that what ever got into my computer is also manipulating system restore, because when I use to go to it before this problem, it used to give me lots of dates when I asked it to.

I have not installed anything recently. But I do remember that right around the time all this started happening I got a pop up that said, update available for adobe, to update now click on update. I clicked on update, and that's when I noticed my computer started acting up. I did uninstall Adobe, and tried using the computer for a few days without it, but the problems did not go away. So I reinstalled Adobe.

I have a feeling that the update pop up that I got that day with the Adobe logo on it, was some malicious S.O.B using it to get me to install some crap into my computer. And I fell for it.

Now I can't get rid of what ever got installed onto my computer.

I hope you can help me.

Unfortunately I have already tried those scanners with no success. I have tried all the free scanner that I could find online. Also used the anti-virus scanner that I have on my computer. (mcafee)

I have ran Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Mcafee, Houscalls, Spybot, Microsoft Safety Scanner, Bitdefender, and Avest. The only one I got a log from is Adwcleaner, but I did not save it. I will run it again, so I can send you the log. But I have to send it to you after I run it, because it will ask me to restart the computer. I will post the log in about 5 minutes.

I got tied up and couldn't get back to you in time to impart my suggestion'

If you are using the Classic Shell click/tap on the Start button, then click/tap on Computer.

Click/tap on C: drive, then click/tap on Adwcleaner.

Click/tap on the date of the previous log prior to the one you just ran and post it.

If you are not using the Classic Shell open the Search charm and type in this pc, it will be listed below the search box, click/tap on it.

Click/tap on C: drive, then Adwcleaner.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

I don't understand what your asking me to do on your last post.

Just so you know, the Adwcleaner never saves an icon on my computer. Every time I'm going to use it, I go to Bleeping Computer and download it.

I did go to my computer and right clicked on c drive. But I could not figure out what it is that you want me to do.

I apologize for my ignorance.

This is not ignorance, it's only the fact that this is new to you.

In the image below you will see where I've outlined the C: drive in red on the left side, and Adwcleaner in the right pane.

Click or tap on Adwcleaner to open the logs.  Select the log dated prior to the scan you ran today.  Copy and paste this in your topic.
