Your UEFI/BIOS (version V1.02) dates from 2014.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.

Only 46 Windows Updates installed.  Most systems have 170 to 180 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

Memory dumps are STOP 0x124's - more info here:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x00000124

Please start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

Thank you for your  reply. I've been working on updating Windows (down to only a couple left). For some reason even though I had my system set to automatically update it wasn't.

According to Acer website there are BIOS versions up to 1.05 but no links to download them. The only downloadable version I've found is 1.02 which is what I've got.

I'll be working my way through your other links. I'm guessing there might be a hardware problem since my husband has the exact same laptop, bought the same day, with the same programs and no trouble at all.

I checked one of the pages for the ES1-711 and there are downloads available there.

Go to Acer support ( http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support ), then to the Drivers and Manuals page.

Select Notebook...Aspire...Aspire ES1-711  then click on the BIOS tab

There will be download links on the right side of each description.

If the links don't show up for you, try another browser (such as Firefox or Chrome).
