the above virus is recurring constantly even after it has been erased,
my antivirus recognises it and i get a pop up saying it will be deleted next time i reboot, i click ok and then another file is infected with the same virus, same as above so i click ok again and reboot.
an hour later the same thing happens again...strange thing is my virus software(pc guard ..telewests own) detects it in real time but when i do a manual scan it claims that my HD is clean and so does every other virus scanner except 'bitdefender,' which says im still infected.
it seems like there's a kind of mother programme kicking this virus out constantly as soon as its deleted
the up side of this is it dosnt seem to be doing any harm to my system ,no slowing
although from time to time i get a weird little error box saying 'cled error #001' i dont know whether this is relative or not but again seems to do nothing to system performance

please can you help me cause im a lil paranoid at the sound of this virus  (backdoor-based)
v much appreciated
lee :flowers:

Hi zepher and Welcome to the Bleeping Computer!

Run the BitDefender scan again and save the report so I can see whats being flagged as infected.

Let me see a HijackThis Start Up log.

Open HijackThis and Click the "Open Misc Tools Section" tab.

Select Generate StartUpList log and make sure that both Boxes beside it are checked:

Put a check by:
List all minor sections(Full)
and
List Empty Sections(Complete)

It will produce a NotePad Page,I need you to copy the entire contents of that page to the next reply along with the report from Bit Defender.

Err,this one can go either way.

You have 2 items that both have legitimate purposes but can be used for malware purposes as well.

Lets get a closer look at the system and whats hiding.

Download GMER from Here

Right Click the Zip and Select "Extract All"

Double Click gmer.exe to launch the program.

Click on the Rootkit Tab and then click Scan.

It takes a while to run, once complete, copy the results to notepad and save them somewhere safe.

Post those results in the next reply.

I am very sorry the helper who was working on this log has not responded. I have no idea why they have not done so. Do you still require help?

tx grinler 4 responding m8 , i was a lil pssd about being ignored by cretemonster but he probebly had his own unforseen reasons tho ..... its a real good service you guys are providing, and ive no doubts that this misshap is a one off tx .
i did a lil reasearch of my own and discovered that what appears to be a rootkit is maybe a false positive, that my virus software (pcguard) very proudly insisted on telling me every half hour was a threat, so just to be sure i formatte the hardrive and reinstalled the programme that started my worries and ran a bunch of different security scanners and non ev um picked anythin up so i feel safe-ish

p,s can you tell me how you got into interpreting these logs, or point me in the direction for learning the basics ,or what i need for key skills ..or anything that you think may help.... i find it interesting many tx 4 your help
