Thank you in advance for your help. Attached are the files from your instructions plus an additional txt file that gives computer specs.  So I notice there are a few things to run while waiting for a reply, if instructions are not given as I click on the links I will wait for your request to the results.  I think the computer is fixing to crash and I am afraid I wont be able to get it back on, much less even keep the internet running right now so I doing as little as possible.

I have ran these reports a few times as the computer seems to not behave properly at the time I run one but thing I have it without troubles.

The securities are screwed up because it would let me run without changing admin securities to the user bpruitt just to even get the cmd prompt to run as admin so I don't know what to do to fix all that and since I have a couple of copies of my antivirus running or something it is asking me for permissions that I am just allowing because I cant do anything without allowing it. so I don't know if the "real" antivirus after this computer is cleaned up will be correct or not with what is allowed and blocked. So please advise.

Again thank you for helping me,

bpruitt

Your UEFI/BIOS (version 6.40) dates from 2013.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.

Many, many Windows Update problems.  Visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates.  If you have problems getting them, post back here for some suggested fixes.

The WER section of the MSINFO32 report shows BSOD problems with your Synaptics Touchpad driver.

The memory dumps that I analyzed also blame the Synaptics Touchpad drivers.
Please visit the Toshiba support website for your model and download/install the latest, Win8.1 compatible driver for your Synaptics Touchpad

Please uninstall MalwareBytes.  Should you decide to reinstall it AFTER the system is stabilized, please DO NOT ENABLE the trial of the Pro version (that's what conflicts with the antivirus).

I just want to know if I should be doing this while the driver verifier is running? I started that late last night.

During the BIOS update will I have an option to not shut down the computer? So I guess, how will I prevent that?

as for the other updates they often ask for a restart, do I do restarts for each update as they ask or keep going until I am finished and then restart?

I will remove malwarebytes. I had a feeling it was not working correctly anyways and as for AVG I think there are 2 versions trying to access the computer as well.  So later we can discuss how or what to reinstall. Both are paid services so I don't need to reinstall any trials.

Thank you for helping me.

Turn Driver Verifier off.  It's supposed to crash the system - and if the system crashes during the BIOS update there is a chance that it may be damaged and unable to boot again.

The BIOS/UEFI flash should be the only thing that you're doing at that time.  While the programs have become much more stable and reliable over the years - it's still best to work as if there will be problems (and take steps to minimize them).

In most Toshiba BIOS updates there are usually 4 options (not necessarily in this order):

- to flash from within Windows

- to read the readme file

- to create (and boot from) a CD/DVD

- to create (and boot from) a USB drive

I seem to recall a "cancel" option, but am not sure about it, nor do I know if it works after the flash starts.

Why will you need an option to "not shut down the computer"?  Are you able to reverse the changes that the flash installer makes on the system?

Your best option here is to triple check everything that you're going to do - and then just go for it.

FWIW - while it is a dangerous procedure, I've only seen 2 that have failed during my career (one was recently and was because the system BSOD'd in the middle of the flash)

If you're still uncertain about doing it, take it to a local computer shop and have them do it for you.

If you are using the paid version of MalwareBytes Pro - it's the Pro version that loads (and presumably conflicts) with the AVG.
There should be an option not to load it into memory at Windows startup - but I don't have a copy that I can check.  Try posting over in the MalwareBytes forums for advice about this (but remember that these problems are relatively rare and many people will say not to change it as they don't have problems with it).

Good luck!

Ok, I called the manufacture and for my system, there is not a BIOS update.

As of yesterday, I did all updates available and checked the update history.  All failed updates have been completed with the exception of one update however, Microsoft said it that update was replaced by another that was already installed.  There is a total of 193 updates.

Synaptics Driver I had 17.0.8.21 and installed 17.0.9.1. The first time I installed, I think I then asked it to update so it went back to the old. So I installed 17.0.9.1 again and did not update it and it seems to be sticking this time.

MalwareBytes is uninstalled.  I think I have bigger issues to deal with on the computer than MalwareBytes, so I will table that little jewel for another day. LOL

So, I will wait to be advised.

Thank you for your help

Now we wait to see if it's fixed (or if fixing it exposed any other problems).

Post back with any difficulties.

In general, if you go a week without problems, it's possible that it's fixed

If you go 2 weeks, it's likely that it's fixed.

Good luck!

Ok.  I see.  Thank you so much.  So, In the meantime I will carry on as usual and research the issue of a couple of programs I do not want any longer (I figured out wondershare was still running even though uninstalled so big improvement after addressing that as well).

Thank you so much for your help and volunteer time for your analysis and suggestions.  Very appreciative user of bleeping computers.  Have a nice day.
