GTA 5 Crashes often, though not regularly. One error related to "atidxx64.dll"?

The crashes do not happen regularly, though they occur often. The "atidxx64.dll"-related crash ("Faulting module name: atidxx64.dll,", seen in Event Viewer) happens during gameplay, while the other crash happens much less often while I'm loading into online. Both of these crashes have only occurred during online play, though I have not tested them in singleplayer.

I run a pirated copy of windows 8.1, a 280x on 15.6 beta drivers (as per a suggestion on another forum) and an i7.

When the game crashes, windows gives me the "GTA5.exe has stopped working, etc." popup.

Could you help me fix these issues? I will try to supply any extra information if required, as soon as I can.

Well, that's GPU related, and I would start by blindly update stuff:

- Update windows to its fullest, including optional stuff (.NET?)

- Is your GTA V updated? What your version? You have to keep it updated

- I would remove the AMD drivers completely with DDU (opensource freeware, very useful) and reinstall them. I would try the latest first.

Does it happen in other games too?

I'll update windows, but I've been having problems with some updates, specifically not booting into Windows and having to boot into safe mode for it to undo the failed updates.

GTA is updated, as I play it through steam.

I'll reinstall the drivers as soon as I can.

And no, it doesn't happen in other games.

Then it might be something with GTA V too..

I would also wait for the new AMD drivers. Just remember to remove them completely first with DDU

What new AMD drivers and where can I get them?

Have you tried the 15.7 already?

The 15.7 drivers seem to be helping. I haven't had a crash yet, though I haven't played the game much. I'll reply again if I crash. Thanks for your suggestion, btw :)

GREAT! I'm glad it helped a little. I guess that it will get better

Damn, it happened again, though with a different error (which is good I guess?)

Anyway, here is the event viewer error log:

Faulting application name: GTA5.exe, version: 1.0.393.4, time stamp: 0x55a62da6
Faulting module name: GTA5.exe, version: 1.0.393.4, time stamp: 0x55a62da6

I believe this is a similar log to what I got when the game crashed at startup (which I can now prevent).

no clue, sorry. But if it happened after a lot of gaming, then it's a good sign. Also, remember that even if the drivers and the game are at better shape, they are probably still buggy

How is it a good sign? Do you think there is a place I can get this fixed, or do you think its an unfixable problem with the game?

- A good sign because it happens less than before, no?

- I think that the best fix should come from updating AMD drivers and the game. I understand currently there aren't updates (except the small AMD update), but still

- Maybe there is some other problem, but you say it happens in GTA only..
