Ok this started 3 or 4 days ago and can t fix it yet so posting here.

Using win 8,1 64 bit and a dell inspiron 15 3000 series .

Ok I type in a web site ; using I.E.  11.0 and then I click search or I click on a link to get to that web site for the past couple of days more times then not nothing happens; no search happens or the site does

not come up .    The circle thingy spins to tell its working but nothing happens; I let a couple of minutes

go by and can t get anywhere doing a search and links don t happen.

The only way to get past this annoying issue is the click on refresh and that gets things back to normal

for several minutes till it happens again .

This is getting annoying so whats this all about and more important how do I fix this ! ?

Thanks .  .  .

To reset Internet Explorer settings
  1. Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
  2. Reopen Internet Explorer.
  3. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet options.
  4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. ...
  5. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.

I would not exactly describe it as 'troubles'......it is your call.

From THIS page....

Internet Explorer settings that are affected by a reset

The following table describes what will happen to various settings when you reset Internet Explorer.

Settings categories
Items affected

Settings that are deleted

  • Disabled toolbars and add-ons

  • Websites added to intranet, trusted, or restricted zones

  • Websites added for special cookie handling under the Privacy tab

  • Websites allowed to use pop-ups under Pop-up Blocker settings

Settings that are reset to Windows, manufacturer, Internet provider, or corporate defaults

  • Home page (for information about backing up your home page tabs, see Back up your home page or home page tabs)

  • Search providers, tabbed browsing settings

  • Colors, languages, fonts, and accessibility settings (General tab)

  • Security settings for all zones (Security tab)

  • Advanced tab settings

  • Privacy tab settings

  • Pop-up blocker, AutoComplete, SmartScreen Filter, and Zoom settings

  • Page setup, toolbar, and text size settings

  • Feeds settings (sync and notification, not feeds themselves)

  • ActiveX controls that are not on the pre-approved list (reset to opt-in state)

  • Toolbars, browser helper objects, and browser extensions are disabled

Settings that are deleted (Delete personal settings is selected)

  • Browser history, temporary Internet files, cookies, form data, and stored passwords

  • Typed URL information, menu extensions

  • InPrivate Filtering data

  • Explorer most recently used list

Settings and items that are maintained

  • Favorites

  • Feeds and Web Slices

  • Content Advisor settings

  • Pre-approved ActiveX controls

  • Temporary Internet file (cache) path settings

  • Certificate information

  • Internet Programs (e‑mail, instant messenger, and other programs associated with Internet use)

  • Internet connection, proxy, and VPN settings

  • Default web browser setting

  • Toolbars are not restored

IO driver booster......not recommended.

I think would be a really good idea if you were to describe what your PC is doing more accurately.

As quietman7 (Global Moderator) says.... "Knowledge and the ability to use it is the best defensive tool anyone could have. An uninformed user can be their own worst enemy when acting in ignorance."

It is entirely possible that your pc is infected.

It is your choice to not follow the advice given here....but that also begs the question why did you post with the problem in the first place ?

The fact that if you click on a link teels me that that there is some inadequacy in the associations file or your browser is need of resetting.

You stated that resets "mess up my laptop"  !!??.....what does "mess up" mean ??

Subject to reading the exclusions in  THIS POST    ....the process of doing a reset is quite simple and straightforward and on its own should not bring any dramas with it.

Glary utilities tune up is another waste of space and time.

The forums here are FULL of topics concerning the use of registry cleaners, boosters etc etc etc

whats the rush .....I thought that because ""Ok this started 3 or 4 days ago and can t fix it yet so posting here.""....you may have been a bit eager ......""This is getting annoying so whats this all about and more important how do I fix this ! ?""

Where to start ; your all over the map.

Never said their was a rush ; when theirs only 1 post answering that's a huge red flag.

Not infected I use MWB and superantispywear and UltraAdware and free AVG to keep the sys clean .

I love IO products and gary utilities used them for 5/6 years now and have never failed me yet .

And yes I know how some folks here hate gary and Tune up and IO and vuze and utorrent and firezille and rtorrent etc and

you folks here almost never recommend what to use and seem to get very upset if user want to get more pro-active in keeping

their computer s running at 100 % instead of a normal 80 % .

Can I shut this post down ?  -  later
