Mod Edit:  Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/583477/backup-image-saved-to-external-hdd-and-still-use-external-for-storage/ - Hamluis.

Platypus, I too, like beachfeet, will have to create an image of my internal HDD which I will be replacing soon, and I am tentatively planning to store the HDD image on a 1TB external HDD, which already has thousands of files (music and movies mostly). What are the steps (or is it pinned somewhere in the site) to create an image of my internal HDD, as I've never done it before. It's Windows 7 on a Dell Vostro.

Thanx :thumbup2:

The program documentation, available at the website of the program developer...will always contain instructions on using the program and will vary slightly, depending on the program you choose to use.
