This seems to have started within the past two months:

Whenever I click on any application to start it takes up to three minutes to open.
Browsers,control panel ,my documents,recycle bin,run command,search,etc.
Once they are open all run fine.
Quite often my log-in from the desktop takes upwards of five minutes, and does not always load all my start-up programs.
Other times though it logs on within 30-45 seconds just fine.
I have run every BC suggested anti everything app. and then some.
With the exception of some tracking cookies and a hack tool? (crack searcher... deleted... boys will be boys)
I have had no results.
Cleaned the registy, defragged check hdd for errors (with windows and a western digital app.)
Everything is up to date.
According to my findings I have no problems.
I'm affraid if I keep messing with it I may really screw it up.
I really don't wat to do a wipe and re-load but that may be in my future.

That is why I'm here.

Hello klink1956 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

For performance issues I would suggest posting a question in the XP forum and have them do a deeper check for what processes are using the most resources. Sometimes a program might have a runaway process and everything stops until it finishes running. Let them know that you have been to this forum and no malware was found.

Cheers.

OldTimer,

Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate the time and effort on your part.
I believe I have solved the problem I was having. I did some deep cleaning in the registry and (knock on wood) the situation seems to be resolved.

Bob
