Hello,

I'm running just about everything I can think of to control malware (ad-aware, spybot, spyware blaster) and, of course, AVG Free and Zone Alarm.
Two issues here.
1. When I run Spybot, usually daily, SurSideKick keeps coming up which I "fix". I've checked registry and done file searches for the usual surfsidekick files - nothing.
2. The other is when I reboot periodically when all authorized programs are done loading oftentimes a website pops up automatically before I even begin any IE activity (business here has DSL line) named smalltool.net/update and begins with an update which I cancel. I don't know where this came from. I have visited the site and its a blank page. I once let the update go to a file to check it out from properties and its a small file around 307 bytes but that's all I know. Anyway it is suspicious. So, here's my log if anyone wants to look at it. If you see anything unusual I'd like to know. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

Unfortunately there's not much that can be done to secure your computer until you update Windows. Please visit Windows update and install Service Pack 1.

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Once you have done that, please post a new hijackthis log and we'll get started.
