One question. Is this a Sandisk USB flash drive?

Unfortunately, the drive cannot be fixed. Sandisk enables write detection in their firmware when a fault is detected to protect against data loss. Here is a 6 page thread on the Sandisk forum.

Here is a article from sandisk on the issue. If the drive is under warranty, try to wipe the drive and return it but wiping a USB flash drive can be problematic in that not all data is erased unrecoverable. From what I have read some data may still be recoverable from a USB flash drive after a wipe but I cannot confirm this. Maybe somebody on the forum can confirm it.
