I was looking for anonymous FTP servers, and when I clicked on one of the links, I got the error message ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED.  I'm guessing (for obvious reasons) that this means the DNS server could not resolve the domain name to an IP address.  What is the probable reason for a failure to resolve a domain name?  Can I solve this problem by changing to a different DNS server, or is the problem something else, like the server no longer exists?  I'd prefer technical information to step-by-step instructions, please.  I'm not just looking for an immediate solution to the problem; I want to actually understand what's going on.
