I recently hit the recovery on my mini Acer, I loaded the usual MBAM, SAS and MSI.  I down loaded  the free issues, the problem I am having is MBAM runs a full scan at startup.  I have gone into maconfig as admin unchecked the MBAM boxes in startup, one MBAM box re checks its self immediately.  The mini is a slow chugger, it is unusable for about 10+ minutes.  I want to get back manual control, will I have to remove and reload MBAM and will that cure it?

Hi OldPhil :)

If you are having an unusual issue with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, it's recommended to uninstall it and clean the remnants using mbam-clean.exe, and then reinstall it. It's the first troubleshooting step when it comes to Malwarebytes. Follow the instructions in the thread below.

https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/146017-mbam-clean-removal-process-2x/

Let me know how it goes.

If you ever decide to use the Premium version, you can schedule when to perform a scan...How do I schedule a scan in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

I checked the menus pretty carefully they give you very good control, thinking about it maybe it was the trial version and was doing what it was suppose to.  Problem is the Acer mini is painfully slow!

That can happen with several different types of security products which have a scheduled scanning feature and load on startup...you shut down prior to the scheduled scan and on the next restart the program wants to perform the scan it missed.

I used the link from Aura then downloaded a new copy all the issues were cured, that is what got me thinking I downloaded the trial version the past time.

When the trial period expires Malwarebytes will continue to be expired by design even after updating to a new version or reinstalling. However, in some cases this does not always occur as intended and affected users have previously reported that issue to the Malwarebytes Team.
