C:\windows\diagnostics\system\networking

Error code: ox80096001

What does this mean, how do I solve the problem?

My internet activity is now restricted to a small number of websites.  Example:  Cannot access yahoo or google.com  I cannot download the chrome program, do not have in pc.

Try a portable browser (it's best to put it on a CD/DVD so that nothing can affect it).

Here's a link to some of them:  https://www.google.com/search?q=portable+browser&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I'd start by suspecting that the system might be infected.

As such, I'd suggest posting over in the Am I Infected forum:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/
Please read the pinned topics at the top of the forum for instructions on how to post there.

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

- John  (my website: http://www.carrona.org/ )**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

Please note some of my win updates failed with this same error code.

I am now being told .NET Framework version 4.5 is damaged.  What do I do, cannot use browser and cannot download.  Your website is one of few I can get to, but cannot download.

Hello,

do you still need help?

If you can't download with your PC, use other and post logs. Maybe in Safe Mode?

Download Security Check from here or here and save it to your Desktop.

§  Double-click SecurityCheck.exe

§  Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.

§  Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

---------------------

rKill.exehttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/
iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/

§  Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.

§  If using Windows Vista, 7 or 8 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.

§  black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.

§  If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.

§  Do not reboot until instructed.

§  If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.

When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.

NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

------

Please download Farbar Service Scanner (FSS) and run it on the computer with the issue.

§  Make sure the following options are checked:

o    Internet Services

o    Windows Firewall

o    System Restore

o    Security Center/Action Center

o    Windows Update

o    Windows Defender

o    Other Services

§  Press "Scan".

§  It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

§  Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

----------

Since I was unable to download anything and found it increasingly difficult to use the internet I decided to download Win7 all over again. I backed up files to an external HD and re-installed win 7 successfully.  Everything now seems to be working.

I want to thank all who tried to help.  This request for help is now closed.
