Problem started around a couple weeks ago when I got a BSOD and the computer rebooted itself, but after that, everything seemed to go fine until two days ago. It just started going on this BSOD+reboot fit(would reboot to the Windows screen and before the icons could load on the desktop, would get a BSOD near immediately and reboot itself over again, for about three times), then it ran chkdsk by itself and seemed to stabilize. Yesterday, it worked fine, with the exception of Firefox oddly crashing like hell(it never crashed this much, so I'm wondering if it's related). Today, however, it started fine then wen't all crazy again. It's been a hassle just trying to get it stable enough for me to post, but I managed to, yet don't know how long it will hold up. I went through the process, have the two zip files. Here's my specs:

- OS: Vista

- 64-bit OS

- It's the original OS on my PC.

- OS came pre-installed.

- Age of system is 8 years old.

- Age of OS is 8 years old.

I'm not sure about all the other specs regarding motherboard and such. I'm not that keen on computer hardware and the such. The most I can list is this:

Type: Desktop

Manufacturer: Dell

Model: Inspiron 518

Processor: Pentium® Dual-Core CPU   E5200 @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz

Memory(RAM): 4.00 GB

If anybody could help me, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

EDIT: If it will help, i've included a SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip from today after the most recent BSOD just an hour ago.

First off, try booting to Safe Mode with Networking and see if that makes things more stable for you.

To do this, try tapping F8 as the manufacturer's splash screen goes away - and before the Windows splash screen shows up.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version 1.0.3) dates from 2008.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system (I checked here and found v1.0.8: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-518/drivers )

Please ensure that you get ALL available Windows Updates.  This may take repeated trips to get them all.  Just keep going there until the system tells you that there are none left.

Please also ensure that you get ALL the available updates from the Dell website that I mentioned above ( here again: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-518/drivers )

Beyond that, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions if the BSOD's don't stop:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

Something totally messed up. I booted up in Safe Mode with Networking and decided to download all the updates at the link you gave. It wouldn't let me update the BIOS from Safe Mode(said something about driver error), and went into Normal Mode to see if it would work, which it did, but here is where the problem occurred. I got about halfway through updating the BIOS when I got hit with another BOSD(basically, mid-way between update). Now the computer won't even boot up anymore.

UhOh!  Not a good thing to hear.

What happens when you turn it on?

It may have damaged the CMOS because the flash didn't finish.

The efforts here should be focused on getting the system to boot.

Once it's able to boot (if you're able to do that) then the next step would be to finish the flash.
But, if the system's CMOS was damaged because of the incomplete flash - you may not be able to get it to boot.

Depending upon your skill level, this may not be an easy (or quick) task for you.

You may want to consider taking it to a shop in order to see what can be done.

Good luck!
