Just thought I'd like to start a topic regarding what it must be like to live the life of a highly 'successful' (if you can call it that! lol) professional malware creator......some job title, huh?? lol..............

I mean, with the out-and-out seeming 'success' (I choose that word with much malaise! ) of some of these ransomware infections and other such various scams these rogue villainous guys and girls are creating... and the fact that so many folk are seemingly left with no choice but to pay up the ransoms, I have this image in my head of some of these folk living a highly swanky lifestyle with pads high up in Beverly Hills somewhere, yachts moored off the coast of Nassau, fleets of luxury hyper-cars and jetting off to Casinos around the World as they live the high-life.....all funded by the proceeds of their criminal activities whilst laughing in the faces of us mere mortals who are falling prey by the thousands to the devious (and seemingly highly-successful!) rogue and sinister programs they created......

How must they feel when they go to bed at night and wake in the morning knowing that they are as rich as they ever will likely need to be....all because they ripped off many thousands of innocent and decent people via the web? I wonder if they feel any guilt? Are they constantly having to watch over their shoulder....dreading the day that comes when they feel a tap n the back by the FBI or some other government authority!!?? I wonder what their average day 'in the office' entails?.....and the way they lead their devious lifestyles??

Please forgive me for sounding so freakin weird when I say it...but for some strange reason, I'd love to see into the minds of these folk and try to decipher what goes on in their heads and what makes them tick!

Honestly, I can't actually even begin to imagine or even speculate as to the answers to all these questions, but I'm just wondering if anyone else can....if only for pure entertainment value and something to gossip about!

Anyone have any thoughts???

If this is deemed to be in the wrong forum, or the topic itself deemed not worthy of general discussion, then I won't be offended in the least if it is removed or locked.

Im a rookie and purely recreational pc user. Im utterly obsessed with security (even though I consider myself a safe and law-abiding internet user!) and run a combo of the following freeware security suites.....

Windows Defender/firewall

Regular scans with Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner, JRT, HitmanPro

. . .  these folk living a highly swanky lifestyle . . . all funded by the proceeds of their criminal activities . . .

I see these low life scum as pawns to organized crime or as fanatics raising money to fund a cause.

Ransom ware is big business, most of it appears to come from former Soviet Union territory.  How they (the operators/agents) got in to it is anyone's guess.  My thought is that to them it's just a job, in an economy that has no jobs.  It's what they do to feed themselves, by choice or not.

I think that if the guy on the other end of the phone (telling you you need to give him access to your system to fix something that is not broken,) could find an honest job that paid as much, he would have taken it.  His boss on the other hand, I hope contracts lead poisoning!

As for the fanatics raising money for their cause, I ask this:  Should suicide bombers get the death penalty?

Tuppance,

Naught

If they killed others, yes.

"I wonder if they feel any guilt?"

No, they don't. If they did they would stop their evil actions.

I seriously doubt they have any guilt. They never see the faces of the people they screw over,or give it a second thought.

I have always wondered about the people who design and build robots that take peoples jobs away. How do they sleep at night?

I picture many as pimply faced low self esteemed turds!  Then again you have the ones that should be put away for a very long time!  It has always bothered me how light most sentencing is, the sentencing should be brutal for the harm and aggravation they cause.
