WD Red drive for backup?

I am thinking about buying a Western Digital Red 2TB drive and putting it into a USB 3.0 case.
This external drive would be used for daily backups (once or twice a day).
I know Red drives are designed for 24/7 use.
My question: is it ok to use a Red drive the way I intend to?
