Hey there, my problem is that there is no sound when i start my computer but when i restart, the audio is back. There are also times that the audio boots up fine and i don't have to restart. Is there something wrong with the sound driver? What should i do?

Start by uninstalling the sound driver program.

Then download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8/8.1 compatible sound driver from the manufacturer's website

Install it and see if that helps.

If not, then post back and we'll try some other stuff.

RE: Sound on win8/8.1 stopped working. Very frustrating. However, I realized, in this e.g., that I had removed recently added external speakers. My laptop (Lenovo) had accommodated the addition of the external speakers, but when I removed them, I lost my sound. After much searching & frustration, I was relieved to find that all I had to do was a simple restart from my desktop. After doing so, my sound returned to its former state...100% recovered.
