I have a Hp pavilion a6400f that I don't have any pc speakers for.

And I was wondering if it is at all posible to hook up a sterio speaker as seen in the pics.

Some boards have enough power for low demand speakers, a preamp would be a safer path.  A buddy has a set of Bose running through a preamp it is past awesome when he games.

What type of connector would I use to do that?

If you decide to try them without a preamp make sure they volume is set way down, you can kill your sound board.  They come with RCA jacks, you can go to Radio Shack and by an adapter and splitter.  Once hooked up raise the volume very slowly, Good Luck you may be buying a sound card!

An 8 Ohm speaker needs an amp to drive it. Your Pavilion a6400f provides line outputs on 3.5mm sockets (unless it has had a sound card fitted - a few older sound cards could drive speakers directly, but that was not common). With powered computer speakers being such a cheap commodity, unless you know your system has a sound card that can drive that speaker, there's little point trying it.
