Morning :D

Acer E1 522 3820 64 bit...

refreshed my laptop several months ago..didnt entirely finish the setup till recently

..removed all the bloatware

..installed 160 ish updates ( took 14 hours lol)

..updated to win 8.1

...reinstalled all my usual maintenance programs..malwarebytes ccleaner spybot etcetc.

after all this, laptop began to hang and freeze on both IE and chrome.

i'm getting 'long running script' and other script errors..even though I have the debugging in tools checked

this laptop is usually quiet but now it occasionally sounds as though its working very hard and everything freezes..rebooting is often the ony way to stop it

opening links to other sites/pages/tabs is often incredibly slow

when i run adwarecleaner it often shows coduit and or update x

I had been using Avira but it didt seem to be working right o I replaced it with avast..didn't like that so I switched to avg.

I downloaded  and used rkil, jrt and minitoolbox

now i'm just frustrated lol

Hope you can help :D

You say that you have used and uninstalled Avira and Avast anti-virus programs and are now using AVG. You are obviously aware that having more than one A/V product can cause problems, but it is possible that these programs have not uninstalled fully and this could be your problem. Have a look at these pages from Avira and Avast -

Avira  :-  https://www.avira.com/en/support-for-home-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/88

Avast :-  https://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility

I appreciate you live in Canada and the Avast link is to the UK site but I am sure you will find the Canadian equivalent.

Make each of the browsers freeze, then do these 2 things:

1)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

2)  Please provide this information (even though you're not having BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/

FYI - if it's still showing Conduit, I'd really expect that you are infected with a bunch of stuff (Conduit invites it's bad buddies in after it's installed).

If infected, I'd suggest posting over in the Am I Infected forum:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/
Please read the pinned topics at the top of the forum for instructions on how to post there.
