Laptop or Desktop?

My budget for the new computer is:

$1,000 - 1,200

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?

email, work, browsing

What software do you intend on using on the computer?

Nothing special. Just a browser and photoshoppe

Do you play games? If so, what type of games?

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?

I'm a multitasker and have a few windows open

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?

Yes.  A lot of pictures movies and music

Will you be overclocking?

Location for online shopping/shipment/prices?

How many monitors are you planning to use?

Do you need peripherals? OS?

dvd drive.  I hate windows 8.1 but there doesn't seem to be any other options right now.

Any particular reason why you are upgrading?

Dell broke after two years.  HP replacement broke within a week after I bought it.  I'm not rough on them, just bad luck I guess.

This Asus laptop from xotic pc has an IPS matte display and you can get it with windows 7 instead of 8 installed .. they also have a lot of options.  It is probably a bit more powerful than you need but it should last you quite a long time.

I ended up ordering the lenovo Thinkpad E550.  I get a TB hd, fast Processor, 8 GB RAM, windows 7, and it's below my target price
