Laptop or Desktop?
Laptop
My budget for the new computer is:
Under $750
What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?
Web Browsing, photo and video editing, light gaming, and college coursework.
What software do you intend on using on the computer?
Google Chrome, Picasa, possibly photoshop, and weather radar software.
Do you play games? If so, what type of games?
Yes, mostly flash type games nothing really intensive.
Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?
I run a lot of programs at once.
Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?
I store and edit a lot of photos and video.
Will you be overclocking?
No
Location for online shopping/shipment/prices?
United States
How many monitors are you planning to use?
N/A
Do you need peripherals? OS?
I need a DVD burner. I have no preference on OS since Windows 10 is coming out in about a month. I also need something that will last me 5-7 years. through my last year of high school and four years of college (Meteorology).
Any particular reason why you are upgrading?

Current laptop is breaking.

These are both 15.6"

I was going to ask you what screen size you wanted & obviously didn't.  Selecting machines for customers all the time, can do it for you, too.

I am a huge fan of ASUS machines.  I will happily sell them to clients any day & twice on Sunday, as the saying goes.  They are good & so is their warranty.

Anyway, these 2 will fall w/in or under your $750 max.  17" are more money & smaller are just tablets w/ no optical drive.

I highly recommend either of these, for you!

Have't looked @ price points for these but, just for S-n-Gs, this is the ASUS family of Gaming machines right HERE.
