Computer Freezing

I've been having an issue where my computer freezes for about 30 seconds to a minute. During the freeze I am able to move the mouse, but everything else becomes unresponsive. This has happened at the windows user log in screen, browsing the internet using chrome and on the desktop before opening any applications. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit. Any help is much appreciated.

Please try running the following the instructions below and post the needed logs.

 

Try downloading Speccy and then install the program.  To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

 

Download MiniToolBox and run the program. Select
List Last 10 Event Viewers, List Installed Programs and List Users, Partitions and Memory Size then click Go.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

edit: My computer just froze up again so I reran MiniToolBox. The system errors at 11:16 AM on the 23rd line up with when I froze.

Hi, can you post the speccy link as instructed next time please? Is this a Lenovo W520 laptop? Do you use Norton as a trial or paid version? Please make sure that you only acquire drivers from the manufacturing support site only. Check and or reinstall your video driver first including an updated firmware version of your SSD.

I suggest you to free up your disk and also defragment it. You Can run "sfc/scannow" command from elevated command prompt to make sure for any integrity violations of disk.

Hi, is a SSD required for defragging manually? Just curious of the different opinions (online) with regard to this subject.

Sorry. I misread your initial post and was looking for "publish snapshot" in the start menu instead. I ended up using the snipping tool when I couldn't find it. It is a Lenovo W520 laptop. It is the paid version of Norton. However, I'm debating on switching antivirus programs soon. I reinstalled the driver for the NVIDIA Quadro 1000M, The one I found for the Intel HD Graphics 3000 said it was not compatible when I tried to install it. According to the readme file, it was the right one (Same model, OS and device). As for the SSD firmware, I'll have to go get some blank CD's later today to install that.

I was under the impression that you're not supposed to defragment a solid state drive. I ran sfc /scannow and it found errors, but could not fix them.

I was under the impression that you're not supposed to defragment a solid state drive. I ran sfc /scannow and it found errors, but could not fix them.

 

 

You can sort out this by repair the os installtion. All you have to do is insert you os installation cd and boot up the system than press F8 button before your motherboard icon shows up. Here you can find option to repair the os. Hope this help you, if the problem persist, do a clean format of your system.

Don't worry about the firmware as it's already using the 0007 version.

Sorry for the lack of response over the past few days. Some family things came up. Yes, I did install the NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver 9.18.13.1269 version. The problem is still persisting.
