Hello!

Recently, I was playing a game and my machine crashed. I use a AMD Radeon 6800 for my video card. It cannot start up anymore except in Safe Mode. If I try to boot it normally, it does the normal Windows Boot item, then the monitor briefly goes dark then goes light. On one occasion, it went to the login menu with lines running straight across the entire screen.

I suspect my video card was fried, but would that completely prevent my computer from even booting? Cursory google searches indicate I should be getting some feedback via beeps on my computer (the speakers are hooked up) if my video card isn't functioning.

I appreciate any help.

The lines on the monitor suggest video card problems.

As video cards become more advanced, their errors can become more confusing.

The test here is to try another video card.

If you don't have a card to test with, try purchasing one from a store that will let you return it (and get your money back) if it's not needed.

Post back with the results and we can move on from there.
