Hope someone can help me here ..

I'm running XP Pro and am finding that whenever I click into Google to do a search the Google window only remains active for one or two seconds (the cursor then disappears). This forces me to click either back on the title bar or into the search box again so that I can finish performing my search ..

This becomes particulalry frustrating as my family often begin typing as soon as Google launches then discover that only the first couple of charcters have come up in the search box forcing us to go back and edit or re-enter our search terms all over again ..

(note: Google can be the only window open on the desktop and it still does it ????)

Whew ....

Any help would be soooo much appreciated !!!

Hi 'thanks for responding'

I use Nortons which I update and run regularly (at least once a week).
I also use 'spybot and adaware' which again i keep up-to-date and run regularlry!
It's weird because I use a note-book which is on-line quite a bit but have never had the same problem with it.
I have had occassions in the past - when I have just rebuilt my hard disk (ie reformatted my drives , freshly reinstalled XP and everything else) and 'still'when I go into Google I have the same problem with it becoming an inactive window after a couple of seconds!!
This never used to happen ..

Sorry I can't help any further ...

Thanks Again
