All I did was shut it down because the electrician was here working.

I booted it back up, it did the dell splash screen, sat there for awhile, then I got a screen that said -

avaliable, press Enter to retry

led

led

It looks like the words are off the screen. I press Enter and it just comes back, never boots.

On the Dell splash screen it says I can press F2 for set up or F12 for boot menu.

I can get to those screens, but it takes forever and it does nothing anyway.

Thanks,

Tim

Did you leave it plugged in? I'm assuming mains power was off at the time.

When you get the offset display, can you press the monitor's auto-adjust button if avalable, or if it's that type, move the horizontal position so you see more. I wonder if it's stuck at the detection stage.

Perhaps it's a problem due to a failing CMOS cell and the mains power loss caused a problem. Try resetting the BIOS to defaults. Are you comfortable with such operations?

I have no idea about CMOS or the BIOS.

My dispaly is a Vizio 24 inch LCD, I looked through the menu and can't adjust that stuff.

Thanks,

Tim

You can download the manual from Vizio. http://cdn.vizio.com/documents/downloads/hdtv/E291A1/UM_E291A1.pdf

Have a look at the picture settings, section 5, and troubleshooting. It's at the bottom.

Do the other screens from the computer look similarly skewed? Vizio advice is to adjust the horizontal position. Check the wide setting. I'm assuming the tv displays fine in other modes.

Here is what the screen says -

Boot from CD :

No boot device available, press Enter key to retry

SATA-0: Installed

SATA-1: Installed

SATA-4: None

SATA-5: None

Thanks,

Tim

I got to the Boot menu, Hard Drive has a arrow to the left of it and is highlighted.

I pressed Enter, then F4 to exit the menu, but I still get the screen as in my last post.

Thanks,

Tim

Maybe something or not - under "Hard Disk" it reads "- Bootable Add-in Cards"

???

Thanks,

Tim

Seems the boot order CD drive is boot device. There are also 2 SATA devices listed as present. You have 2 hard drives?

Restart and tap F12. Select the first HD as boot and see how you go. To correct this completely needs BIOS editting, and I guess the CMOS battery is dud as the settings seem lost. I think you need to hit F10, or the changes you made are lost.

Bootable addin is not an issue unless you had maybe, a SCSI, or bootable RAID card, or similar

No, only 1 hard drive.

Ok, I just go into the Setup Utility screen.

Should I try anything in here?

I hit Enter to choose the Hard Drive and it wants to highlight the next item in the list. Which is "- Bootable Add-in Card" and I get that same screen, so I hit Enter again and I get that same screen, only without the "Boot from CD :" at the top.

Thanks,

Tim
