My laptop has recently recovered from a malware infection as per http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/575624/removed-rootkit-and-idp-trojan-is-cleanup-complete/

Now, I am unable to complete backups. I am using a new WD 2TB hard drive.

The last error I received is as attached when I used a USB 2.0 port.

I initially suspected a problem with WD drives as there is a known issue with using the USB 3.0 port for transferring of large files. The error I received was Access is denied, 0x80070005.

However, now I'm not too sure what the problem is.

See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/968003 for info on that error.

Not sure at all how what appears to be a Windows Update error...would impact backing up.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Hi Louis,

Thanks for getting back to me. It appears that a second attempt at backing up via a USB 2.0 port after restarting the backup and shadow copy services helped.

I will see how the next few backup goes and if it gives me problems again, I will open another topic.
